Work, Work, Work! But is that all it is?

Posted by Viriyalila on Mon, 29/04/2013 - 16:20For our Sangha Night this Wednesday we will be looking through the lens of the Buddha’s teaching concerning right livelihood.

We will explore our potential to shape society through our work and through those other volunteer, social and political activities in which we participate.

Correspondingly, we will look how our engagement with our work and other activities within the greater community support, or not, our efforts to develop positive mental states and mature our spiritual practice...

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Posted by Viriyalila on Tue, 23/04/2013 - 12:54If actions speak louder than words, what do our consumer purchases, food choices and habits of body tell us about our cravings and our ability to avoid harm to ourselves and others?

This week we will be exploring guiding ethical principles that can help inform our decision-making and focus of our practice efforts.

Join us for Sangha Night, Wednesdays, 7 - 9 pm.

Walking, Running and Stumbling along the Noble Eight Fold Path

Posted by Viriyalila on Mon, 25/03/2013 - 18:19One of the central teachings of Buddhism is the Noble Eight Fold Path. Intellectually it holds interest as being one of the first teachings; but its true value to each of us is the extent to which we integrate the teaching into the many varied moments of our lives. On the meditation cushion and off, at work and at home, at play and at rest, the path offers guidance.

Viriyagita and Suzanne will be exploring the Eight Fold path...
